Faire Question, The Tudors, and Kitties!
I like that picture- it's from a third grade class. I wish we had studied the Tudors in third grade!
Starting from my above list:
Another FAIRly interesting question: Why are there Renaissance faires? The SCA can claim it's origin from a medieval themed garen party in 1970s California, and I know King George of TRF came FROM California and was, in fact, sued for using the name Faire from a former business partner (which is why TRF is a FESTIVAL, not a faire) Anyway- what was it which led these entrepeneurs to believe they could make millions from a faire where people dressed up in silly clothes and ate (generally) bad food? What did they see in the culture of the era which led them to believe this was something people were yearning for?
Thoughts?
Anywho, watched episode 1 of the Tudors last night, and I was unimpressed. The clothing is great (hats are still atrocious) but my biggest beef is henry himself. They are portraying Henry from when he first becomes enamored of Anne Boleyn- which makes him about 35 years old... well, this Henry seems at least 10 years younger, and plays the role as such- they're also taking GREAT liberties with established fact. Sam Neil as Woolsey is brilliant, as is whatshisface playing Thomas Moore- and Katharine is spot-on... but Henry himself? cant bear to watch. Anyway, you can see the episodes on YahooTV.
Kittens are at war... well, they are in that stage of adjusting where Violet attacks Daisy, and Daisy, being the lover that she is, is holding back and NOT smacking theimpudent kitten about as she so richly deserves- no this is not actual fighting, just Violet testing her boundries... I keepon waiting for Daisy to really put her in her place, but for now yowling, hissing, and non-clawed fighting is the thing... which Iam glad- dont want any hurt kitties!
